Welcome to the Web Log
of Designer Ken Libby

3.2.11From this point forward I will just be waiting for the group to finish up some of the content they are working on so that I can replace the placeholder information. Some aesthetic tweeks will need to be employed as well.

2.28.11I worked on the website quite a bit over the weekend. I have centralized the navigation and also used the GoogleAPI webfonts to use a non-standard web font to give the website some character. With out further ado...

Animal Adventures 2.0

2.23.11I put in some good work today developing towards 2.0. With some work over the weekend I should have the prototype of 2.0 finished on or around Monday.

2.21.11I am proud to introduce version 1.0 of the website. While much of the content is still in the works, the basic idea of the website has definitely been captured. After talking with Professor Fu we have decided that I need to change the location and size of the navigation. Instead of being tabs on the left the nav will be tabs that will pop out of the bottom of the main header very similar to the nav of my SCAD Blogs.

2.17.11The homepage of the website has been coded and will be used as a template for the rest of the pages. I will be using the color sets from the type studies for the visual themes of the individual pages. I will be working on these over the weekend and will post a link to them on Monday.

2.14.11Today I began the process of translating my new design into working HTML and CSS. A viewable version of this should be available in my next update. Back to the grindstone.

2.9.11While working on some information architecture for the project I came to the realization that I was unhappy with my original design. We discussed as a group that the site was not giving off a "kid-friendly" enough image. I have roughly redesigned the website as can be seen here. Additionally I vectorized the drawing of the tiger, here is that cute little guy.

2.7.11Today was the alpha presentation in class. Everyone presented their work that they have completed up to this point for our project. I presented the alpha version of the website as can be seen here. It is mostly just a visual composition showing how the themes will be be applied. From here the group has decided that the page needs to have a more kid friendly appeal to it. This will be achieved with a softer typeface and some vector artwork of the animals that Thomas created. I will be vectoring these for Wednesday so that I can insert them into the design.

2.2.11For today the final version of the logo was created. Additionally I created the five visual themes that will be applied throughout the different sections of the website. With the completion of these two items I can now begin preliminary work on the website.

The logo can be viewed here.

The visual themes can be viewed here.

1.31.11Today's work was creating and developing the color systems that will be used throughout the different parts of the website. All of the color choices were inspired by different places within the park. The major places I choose for iconic color pallettes were: Rainforest, Water, Earth, Savannah and Desert. I will be working over the weekend to develope these color themes with the help of Adobe Kuler.

1.26.11Today I brought in my initial ideas for the logo. We have selected one and I will continue to work on it over the weekend and hope to have a semi-final version for Monday. The initial design can be viewed here.

1.24.11Today I was assigned to work on the Animal Adventures ARG. I met with Laura and Loren last night as they brought me on board with the team and up to speed on the ideas they had for the project. What they want to achieve is an accompanying website to an in-park adventure tied in with Animal Kingdom. A child will obtain a device much like a Digimon that allows them to walk around the park while completing activities to "level-up" their pet. There will be multiple pets available for the children to choose to raise. I will be responsible for building the website for the group detailing the experience for the web.
